Starting off strong despite some slight technical difficulties (aka a frozen pitch), we were leading 1-0 within the first 5 minutes, thanks to a cracking goal from Captain Alex. Things then stepped up a notch as Siders mounted a feisty attempt at a comeback. However, despite their relentless attacking efforts, Petersfield’s defense held their nerve, with excellent communication and seamless connecting passes through the back line (Alice, Alice, and Zola).

At half-time, as we tucked into our oranges, we had no idea we were heading into a dramatic second half. The game reignited with energy as Georgie and Daisy made fantastic runs, Eva delivered thunderous hits, and Fizz navigated the pitch with finesse, all backed by a solid performance from Lydia. Rosie was unstoppable, dodging and sending defenders scattering with her sheer determination and skill.

Despite our efforts, the Siders managed to score a goal through several gruelling short corners, with Alex pulling off multiple amazing saves. From there, it turned into a true battle, with goals traded back and forth between the two sides. The whole team kept morale high and managed to come to 3-3, thanks to contributions from Georgie and Eva.

From then on, Petersfield dominated, much to the frustration of the opposing team. This frustration was evident when one player began to push Eva. However, she turned the other cheek and was the bigger person, responding with nothing more than a nonchalant laugh.
With two more brilliant goals, Petersfield secured a commanding lead. The game concluded with a final short corner from Siders, which was heroically defended by Alice SB, who took a ball to the stomach in a moment of fearless play. A phenomenal performance from all the defenders but it was Alice F who earned the well-deserved title of Player of the Match.

Petersfield reigned victorious with a 5-3 win, leaving the pitch with full tummies of beans and chips and big smiles on our faces.
